CALVERT, AL (WSFA) - The ThyssenKrupp product line just keeps growing...literally. ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA announced today that it will now produce 72 inch steel coils for use in chemical, oil and gas industries, and also for milk tanks.
Production started back at the Calvert site in September 2010 with only one width, 64 inches. The new rolls can cut down to 36 inches offering a product advantage for customers.
ThyssenKrupp says they are the only manufacturer in the USA and NAFTA region who can offer product in this size.
Also, the steel company says it is right on schedule to offer more expansion. Construction work on the 1 million ton per year capacity melt shop is well in progress. The melt shop is scheduled to go into operation in December 2012.
ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA currently employs around 549 people. In addition to the production facilities in Alabama, the company has a sales office in Chicago which also markets products from the ThyssenKrupp Mexinox cold rolling mill in San Luis Potosí and from European supplies.
