One dead, 10 wounded in weekend Montgomery shooting

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead and ten others injured over the weekend.

The shooting happened just after midnight Sunday in the 100 block of East South Boulevard at Island Lounge.

Police say 20-year-old DeSamuel Thomas was shot multiple times in the leg and right side. He was rushed to Baptist South Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Thomas died approximately one hour later. He's now the 27th homicide of 2011 in the city of Montgomery.

The remaining 10 victims were transported to local hospitals and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

An unidentified suspect was taken into custody after the shooting. Charges are pending.

There is no further information available at this time.

Montgomery police are asking for help in locating an additional male suspect in relation to this case.
