#2 Tide wraps up practices for #1 LSU game

Posted: Updated:

The second-ranked Alabama football team wrapped up the biggest portion of its preparations for top-ranked LSU on Thursday with a 90-minute workout in shells inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility.

The Crimson Tide focused on fundamentals while working to perfect the game plan and get significant repetitions on special teams.

Saturday night's game against the Tigers presents the Crimson Tide with its biggest test this season with both teams off to 8-0 starts this year. It is the Tide's first No. 1 vs. No. 2 game since beating then-No. 1 Florida 32-13 in the 2009 SEC Championship game.

One of the matchups that will present Alabama with problems is the multiple quarterbacks employed by LSU. The Tigers start senior Jarrett Lee and bring in Jordan Jefferson to give defenses a different look.

"We faced both of these guys last year," Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw said. "We know when one guy is going to come in, and what he tends to do best. Jarrett Lee has looked good all season, and Jordan Jefferson has come in to make some big plays as well."

It will be the 75th meeting between the Crimson Tide and Tigers in a series that Alabama leads 45-24-5, including a 21-15-2 record at home vs. LSU.

Alabama will have a short walk-through on Friday before Saturday's 7:11 p.m. kickoff on CBS from Bryant-Denny Stadium. Verne Lundquist will handle the play-by-play duties while Gary Danielson will be the color analyst and Tracy Wolfson is on the sidelines.
