The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer involved shooting after Ozark police officers exchanged gunfire with a suspect Monday night.
The officers were trying to take a man into custody when the shooting happened at the Marathon gas station on U.S. 231 in Midland City.
Investigators say Ozark's Drug Task Force was attempting to arrest a man when he tried to flee in a vehicle. That's when shots were exchanged with the suspect.
The officers were not hit, but the suspect, unidentified, was injured. He was transported to Flowers Hospital in Dothan where his current condition is unknown.
ABI is investigating, which is procedure when an officer discharges their weapon.
