Veterans Day business discounts for 2011

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - As a way to honor active duty and retired veterans during Veterans Day, many businesses are offering their own 'thank you" with special discounts.

Here are some of the businesses taking part in Veterans Day deals, but there are a few things to go over before trying to take advantage of the deal.

First, free and discounted deals are expensive to businesses, especially in a down economy, so expect to provide some proof that you or your loved one is an actual veteran. Companies aren't being disrespectful when they ask. They simply want the deal to go to those who deserve it.

Second, many deals are offered by major chains and franchises, but not every location participates due to ownership policies. It's very important that you call ahead or verify with the specific location before you arrive.

Third, this list is by no means an all-encompassing list. There are many local businesses that are offering specials. We'll add them to this list as they're reported to us.
