City Councilman wants study on taking over school system

A Montgomery city councilman wants to find out if the city could and should take over the public school system.  City councilor Jim Pruitt, Jr wants the council to vote on a feasibility study to look at taking over Montgomery public schools.

"I just want to make sure that we're being responsible and doing everything that the city council can to make sure that we give these kids a great education. We can build all the buildings we want to, spend all the money downtown on economic development but at the end of the day if we don't have a great education system there's not going to be anybody to spend any money downtown," explained councilman Jim Pruitt, Jr.

The council is expected to vote on the study at the next meeting.
