Highland Avenue teacher a Class Act

Call it some loud learning. In Ms. Latasha Johnson's kindergarten class at Highland Avenue Elementary School, her little ones really get into it. "I used to work in daycare and I loved the little kids," Johnson said. "I went back to Alabama St. University and got my degree in elementary education."

She's been at Highland Avenue Elementary School in Montgomery for 8 years. The parent who nominated Ms. Johnson for the award says she's creative, innovative, nurturing, and challenging all at the same time.

For Ms. Johnson these little ones are a perfect fit. "I love them, they are full of energy, they are so eager to learn.   I love them and they love me. Sometimes tears will fall when all the sudden the lights go on, it's priceless."

Nobody was more surprised than Ms. Johnson when we showed up. "I see it all the time on TV, the Class Act award,  but I  never expected it to be me, I'm honored."

A real honor for a lady who deserves it.  Ms. Latasha Johnson is the week's Class Act.
