Auburn police issue plea after storms

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Police Department is issuing the following plea to folks in the area:

A significant weather system moved through Auburn just after noon today causing power outages as well as downed trees and power lines.

There were several reported traffic accidents but none with serious injuries.

Some light to moderate damage to several homes and other structures was also reported. 

No injuries were reported in those incidents. 

Traffic lights remain out in a number of intersections and some streets have been closed for cleanup.  Motorists are encouraged to stay off the roadways. Those who must travel should exercise extreme caution. 

All available police officers are working at this time. Officers will remain vigil throughout the evening and night.
