Auburn steps out of conference play with an afternoon game against the Samford Bulldogs in the 98th observance of Homecoming. The game marks the return of former Auburn QB and 1971 Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan. Sullivan has been Samford's head coach since 2006.

AUBURN HEADLINES: Auburn leads the series against Samford with a 25-0-1 record. The teams have not met since 1993. Pat Sullivan will become just the second Heisman Trophy winner to coach against his alma mater. South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier was the first to coach against the school where he won the Heisman as a player when the Gamecocks played Florida in 2005. The game against Samford will mark the 98th observance of Homecoming and the 85th Homecoming game at Auburn. Auburn is 71-8-5 all-time in Homecoming games. The Tigers have won 13 consecutive games at Jordan-Hare Stadium, which is tied for the sixth longest win streak at the stadium in program history. It is the longest streak since AU won 13 straight from 1993-94. Fifty-one of Auburn's 79 scholarship players (65 percent) are underclassmen. Auburn's four losses this season have come on the road against teams currently ranked in the top 15 of the BCS standings. Auburn is tied for the toughest schedule in the nation based on opponent's record (58-33). The Tigers are 19-1 and have won 16 straight when intercepting a pass since 2009. Auburn is 21-4 in its last 25 games dating back to the 2010 victory over Northwestern in the Outback Bowl. Auburn has won 15 consecutive home games against non-conference teams. Since 1993, Auburn is 54-4 against non-SEC teams at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Tigers are 20-2 when leading at halftime under Gene Chizik and have won 14 straight. Auburn is 9-0 in games decided by four points or less, including 5-0 vs. SEC teams, under Chizik. Auburn is 12-1 against non-conference opponents under head coach Gene Chizik. LB Eltoro Freeman has 27 tackles, 5.5 TFL's, 2.0 sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in the last three games. WR Emory Blake is 4th SEC/80th FBS averaging 63.1 receiving yards per game. RB Onterio McCalebb has caught a pass in 13 straight games dating back to 2010. Punter Steven Clark is 1st SEC/T-2nd FBS with 27 punts inside the 20-yard line. Clark was named one of the 10 semi-finalists for the Ray Guy Award which recognizes the top punter in the nation. RB Michael Dyer is 2nd SEC/21st FBS averaging 103.7 rushing yards per game. Lemonier needs half a sacks to move into a tie with Donnie Humphrey for 10th in single-season sacks. Humphrey had 9.0 sacks in 1981. Kicker Cody Parkey is 2nd SEC/3rd FBS with 27 touchbacks.
