TROY, AL (WSFA) - It was a special day for Troy University, Saturday, as a former senior administrator was honored with a building bearing his name.
The building formerly known as the General Academic Building, built in 2005, will now be known as Patterson Hall in honor of Dr. Douglas Pattterson.
Dr. Patterson, served as Vice Chancellor from 1989 until 2007 when he retired, and is credited with being instrumental in developing and coordinating the strategic planning process for Troy University.
The dedication ceremony included remarks from Dr. Patterson as well as Senator Gerald Dial, president pro tem of the Troy University Board of Trustees; Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor; and Dr. Sam Shelton, past president of the Troy University Faculty Senate.
Those in attendance also took part in the unveiling of a portrait of Dr. Patterson that will be displayed permanently.
