MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Editorial:  Be thankful

Its Thanksgiving week and here are a few things you might be thankful for.

Be thankful that, even in this recession, America still has the strongest economy in the world.

If you have a job in this time of 10% unemployment, be thankful.

Be thankful that we live in a country that allows legal immigration,

that the Gulf of Mexico is returning to good  ecological health,

that Montgomery, Mobile and Huntsville are not declaring bankruptcy,

and that Alabama's constitution is finally getting overhauled.

Even if they are underfunded, be thankful for public schools, and good teachers.

And be thankful someone did want the job of state superintendent of education.

Be thankful that the vast majority of school children don't bully their peers and that most college coaches are great mentors and role models for children.

If you're a non-smoker at Troy University, be thankful.

And amidst the most fierce college football rivalry in America, be thankful for groups such as Tide for Toomers  and  Toomers  for Tuscaloosa.

And this week be very thankful there is a Turkey Day Classic and an Iron Bowl.
