Woman Allegedly Sets House Ablaze

A suspicious fire in Autauga County prompted a search Saturday night for a suspected arsonist. The fire broke out south of Prattville on Highway 82.

Volunteer firefighters responded to the scene. When they got there around 7:30 p.m., they found a mobile home severely damaged. A witness tells WSFA, the owner of the home had boasted earlier in the day that she was going to set her own trailer on fire.

"There was all kind of carrying on," explained Emily Johnson, who lives nearby. She said the homeowner went to a nearby service station and came home with a can of gasoline. "Then she struck it (a match) and came over to my yard to watch it burn."

Neighboring law enforcement agencies were searching for the homeowner after the fire, but so far there is no word on any arrests or possible charges.
