Savvy shoppers do holiday pawn shopping

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Holiday shopping is in full swing, but some shoppers are straying from the traditional stores and are saving big at local pawn shops.

Montgomery resident Randy Braden says forget the Black Friday frenzy.

"I saw the lines and went back home and made a ham biscuit," Braden said.

He's holiday pawn shopping for family Christmas gifts at Capital Pawn in Montgomery, where he says the real deals are.

"Anything you want you can find it here," Braden said.

He found this guitar for his wife for only $100 as compared to one he saw for $500 at a music store.

"Not everybody is interested in something brand new and they can get a good deal," Braden said.

Capital Pawn owner Luke Finkelstein says people want to make their dollars stretch, buying popular Christmas items like tools, electronics, games and jewelry.

"We normally start, if something is in light new condition at 70 cents on the dollar and sell stuff as cheap at 33 cents on the dollar," Finkelstein said.

The owner says during the holiday season, the number of customers doubles as more people want to cash in and save big.

"We can make loans when people need to get a Christmas present or to pay Alabama power or get them a set of tires." Finkelstein said.

More bang for your buck or a few extra dollars in your pocket.

And if you're concerned about warranties, Capital Pawn has a 30-day warranty on all items sold.
