CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
The UC football team will ring in the new year in Memphis. Sunday night the Bearcats accepted an invitation to play Vanderbilt University in the Autozone Liberty Bowl on December 31st.
"We are pleased to accept a bid into the 53rd AutoZone Liberty Bowl," Head Coach Butch Jones said. "It's a great honor to be part of a game with the prestige and storied history of the Liberty Bowl. We look forward to a great number of Cincinnati fans being the team behind the team and helping us ring in the New Year in Memphis."
Vanderbilt, of the SEC, is 6-6 with close losses to Georgia, Arkansas and Tennessee.
UC finished in a three way tie for the Big East title with West Virginia and Louisville. The Mountaineers earn the automatic bid to a BCS bowl game by virtue of having the highest BCS ranking of the three Big East teams.
