Houston County prosecutors have moved a courthouse Christmas tree that drew complaints because it's decorated with photographs of crime victims.
The Dothan Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/t1v9PK ) the change is in response to complaints by a defense attorney who contends the photos could prejudice jurors against criminal defendants.
The tree was in the courthouse lobby in Dothan. District Attorney Doug Valeska says his office moved the tree to his second-floor office, where jurors won't see it.
The tree is sponsored by the Houston County chapter of a group called Victims of Crime and Leniency. Chapter president Pat Jones says she's not upset about the move, but she says it doesn't seem fair to crime victims.
Valeska says the tree will be moved back to the courthouse lobby after criminal trials end.
