MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
Speaking as a former High School football player on a team that went 3 and 37 it was a true pleasure watching our local young men play winning football this past month and bring home AHSAA Class 2A and Class 6A state championships and the AISA Class 2A state championship.
The Elba Tigers overtook Tanner 34-14 to win the Class 2A state championship completing a perfect 15-0 season. These young men won more games in 4 weeks than I did in 4 years! This win marks the third state championship for Elba.
The Prattville Lions defeated Hoover in a thrilling 35-34 contest bringing home the Class 6A state championship – their fifth title in seven championship tries.
The Edgewood Academy Wildcats won its second consecutive AISA Class 2A state championship defeating Butler 54-12 completing a perfect 13-0 season. This win marks the third such state title in the last four years.
We wish to congratulate the players, coaches, parents, brother and sisters, grandparents, fans, band members and cheerleaders. The players could not have done it without your support.
Boys we are proud of you. You put in the hard work and it paid off. Don't soon forget the lessons you learned on the football field as they will serve you well outside of sports for a lifetime to come.
