Guatemala syphilis trials

More than a year after shocking revelations surfaced of a U.S. medical experiment in Guatemala, the country's president, Alvaro Colom has received a finall report on the syphilis trials.

A team of investigators searched extensively through thousands of pages of medical archives to identify thirteen hundred victims of the tests.

In the 1940s, American doctors reportedly infected prisoners and psychiatric patients by using prostitutes who carried syphilis in order to work on finding a potential cure for the disease.

President Obama has issued an apology to Guatemala's president.
