MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
There are many people in need here in Alabama throughout the year, but as Thanksgiving leads to Christmas time, their need seems more pronounced, especially in an unstable economy.
For over 10 years now WSFA 12 News has held a one day event in early December to help people in need in our area… 12's Day of Giving.
We chose to collect donations for three charities that we feel best reflect the need at this time of year: The Christmas Clearinghouse, The Montgomery Area Food Bank and Toys for Tots.
We try to make it a fun event that our viewers can participate in and feel good about. Our anchors and reporters take up donations of food, toys and money. We broadcast live in our newscasts. We give away gifts for donations.
Many organizations will ask you to give this holiday season, and… please… give where your heart leads you. If you want to be a part of 12's Day of Giving, come to the parking lot of Walmart on Chantilly Parkway on Friday and donate.
I promise you won't be sorry, and neither will the people you help.
