Alabama politician involved in sperm donation scandal

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Former ADECA director and 2010 Alabama gubernatorial candidate Bill Johnson has admitted to being a sperm donor for lesbian couples in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Herald reports that Johnson has spent most of this year running an earthquake recovery center.  During this time he used an online alias to meet women who want to get pregnant.  According to the Herald's report, Johnson has made donations to at least nine women, three of whom are pregnant.

Johnson told the reporter that he couldn't have children with his wife and the he was not planning to tell her until after the children were born.
