Man in custody for October bank robbery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The man believed to be responsible for holding up the Community Bank and Trust branch on EastChase Parkway in Montgomery back in October is now in police custody.

According to the Montgomery Police Department, 34-year-old Darrin Bell has been charged with Robbery in the First Degree after he allegedly robbed the CB&T in East Montgomery.

The suspect wanted for the robbery approached a bank teller around 3:45 p.m. on October, 5 demanding cash. He left the scene on a black motorcycle wearing a red and black motorcycle helmet and a black and gray motorcycle jacket and was carrying a purple bag that was used in the robbery.

Bell turned himself in to police after officers executed a search warrant at his home earlier this week.

Bell was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $150,000 bond.
