Class Act: Johnnie Carr Middle School Teacher

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - It's no secret, Ms. Yvette Davis loves her job as a teacher.  "I think teaching is the most rewarding occupation I could have ever chosen," Davis said.   It runs in the family.   "My mom teaches.  I came from a long line of teachers.  I've done a lot of things, been in the military, but I got the teaching bug, and that's what I want to do."

She's been with the Montgomery public school system for the last 7-years.   Right now she  teaches 6th grade language arts at Johnnie Carr Middle School.  It's the perfect grade level for her.  "It comes with a lot of hormonal changes but 6th graders are still innocent and are on their way to growing up."

A student nominated her for the Class Act award saying, Ms. Davis is the best teacher she has  ever had and  she pushes them learn more everyday in a fun and safe environment.   Ms. Davis knows that every student is different.   "I try to connect with all my students.  I believe they all can learn and sometimes in different ways, so I try to figure out how each one learns, and then do their plan accordingly."

She has a great plan for success and the students are on board every day.  Congratulations Ms. Yvette Davis from Johnnie Carr Middle School, this week's Class Act.
