MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
The Montgomery Police Department has charged Frank Raven, 19, with first-degree robbery, three counts of attempted second-degree assault and attempted murder of a police dog.
MPD officers charged Raven on December 19 following his release from Baptist Medical Center South. Raven had received treatment at the hospital for a gunshot wound sustained December 14 after shooting the MPD K9, Bodi, who was attempting to apprehend the suspect in an armed robbery.
Raven was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where was being held under bonds totaling $62,000.
Bodi was released this morning from Taylor Road Animal Hospital and continues to recover at home. Bodi has lost one eye and has been blinded in the other eye as a result of his injuries. The 11-year-old German Shepherd will be honorably retired from police service. He will continue to live with his MPD partner and family.
