MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State Troopers are revising their list of fatality totals related to the Christmas holiday travel period. That period stretched from 6:00pm Friday, Dec. 23, through midnight Monday, Dec. 26.
Troopers worked a total of two, not three fatal crashes as was previously reported, which resulted in two deaths. Both deaths occurred in Jefferson County.
In one case a pedestrian was struck and killed. In the second case the driver of a vehicle was killed. Investigators say they haven't determined if alcohol was a factor in the cases.
The 78-hour holiday travel period during the same time in the 2010 Christmas season saw a total of five fatalities, including two pedestrians.
