Judge Bob Bailey took the oath of office Wednesday and was officially sworn in as Circuit Judge of Montgomery's Family Court.
He takes the position after being appointed by Governor Robert Bentley. The bench was vacated by former Judge Patricia Warner earlier in the year after she abruptly retired.
Warner faces inquiries into complaints that she unfairly treated those before her court.
Bailey said he is looking forward to working with the other two judges in Family Court so he can improve the lives of children and families. He'll will be up for re-election in 2014.
Bailey has spent most of his legal career presiding over juvenile court in Montgomery County.
