The Alabama Tourism Department first launched The Year of Alabama Food in 2005. It proved to be so popular that they are bringing it back this year.
The official kickoff of the 2012 "Year in Alabama Food" will be at the end of the month when a new, 30-second television commercial premieres. A new web site will be unveiled that gives folks a chance to check out the new, updated version of "100 Dishes to Eat Before You Die". The web site will also feature more than 300 food events that are scheduled for this year.
According to state tourism director Lee Sentell, the new web site will allow people to search for the best food from produce to snacks to fine dining in cities large and small across Alabama.
The web site for the 2012 Year of Alabama Food is www.yearofalabamafood.com
