Teen thwarts kidnapper in Enterprise

ENTERPRISE, AL (WSFA) -

Police in Enterprise are searching for leads after a teenager told authorities that a man tried to kidnap her.

According to the Enterprise Police Department, a 14-year-old girl told police that a man tried to grab her while she was walking home from Dauphin Junior High School.

Authorities say the incident occurred on Timberlake Drive in Enterprise  around 3:25 p.m. The girl said as she was walking, a man driving a faded red Ford F-150 four door pick-up truck jumped out of his vehicle and grabbed her around her upper body. The girl struggled with the man and managed to hit him, free herself and run away.

She described the suspect as a stocky while male, approximately 5'9" weighing 210-220 pounds. He had black and gray hair described to be a "medium length." At the time of the incident he was wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie with white, Nike tennis shoes. The suspect wore glasses and is believed to be in his mid-30's or early 40's.

The faded red four-door F-150 was described as an older model and had little to no chrome with the exception of the truck's wheels. The bed of the truck contained a ladder and several buckets.

The Enterprise Police Department asks that anyone with any information related to this incident or the identity of the suspect to please call (334) 347-2222.
