Nitrous Oxide tanker accident shuts down lane of I-65

LOWNDES COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - Local authorities are asking motorists to use caution when traveling on I-65 near mile marker 144.5 after a tractor trailer carrying Nitrous Oxide collided with a dump truck.
According to Lowndes County EMA Director Walter Hill, one north bound lane of I-65 at the 144 mile marker was shut down for a short time while crews attempted to remove the tanker carrying Nitrous Oxide, which is flammable. Director Hill also added that crews will also have to clean up about 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled on the roadway.
