MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Russell County man described as a 'person of interest' in the apparent sexual assault of an LSU fan is en route to New Orleans, Louisiana to meet with investigators.
Raycom news partner WBRC Fox 6 in Birmingham is reporting that the man's name is Brian Downing and that he's the second cousin of Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor. Taylor said he was not aware of the relation when he sat down with Downing's attorney Thursday afternoon. Taylor said he did not speak with Downing at all.

Downing has not been charged and does not currently have any warrants issued for his arrest. He's said to be traveling with his attorney.
The man and his attorney left his Phenix City area home around 2:00pm CST according to Raycom news partner WTVM-TV in Columbus, Georgia.
The Phenix City Hibbett Sports branch, the company where the man was employed, confirmed that his employment was terminated Wednesday after the sporting goods company learned of the video.
Company spokesman Scott Myers would not say how long the man had been employed with Hibbett or what position he held. When asked why the man's position was terminated he said, "It doesn't represent anything about our company."
The incident, which happened at a fast food restaurant shortly after the BCS National Championship game, went viral when a video was posted online showing a man in Crimson Tide apparel apparently rubbing his genitals on an unresponsive man who was wearing LSU apparel.
