MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Congress is beginning a new session, and that means it's time for a Louisiana congressman to pay up for his failed wager that said the undefeated LSU football team would dash the Crimson Tide's rematch hopes and take the BCS National Championship title.

Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy couldn't predict that his LSU Tigers would get shut out 21-0 by the number 2 ranked Crimson Tide. Both he and Alabama Congresswoman Terri Sewell knew what would have to happen on Day 1 of Congress's return.

Rep. Cassidy donned a houndstooth hat and Alabama tie and brought congratulatory remarks which included "Roll Tide" on the Floor of the House of Representatives, as a condition of the bet to pay tribute to the Crimson Tide on their victory.

"It was a hard fought game between the top teams in the nation. I am so proud of my Crimson Tide for securing victory and bringing home the crystal trophy for the second time in three years," said Congresswoman Sewell. "Congressman Cassidy was a great sport as he brought congratulatory remarks to the team on the House Floor. I look forward to continuing the friendly rivalry between Congressman Cassidy and myself. Roll Tide!!"

"LSU and Alabama both had great seasons. Although, I wish the outcome had been different, I congratulate Alabama on a game well played. This was a tremendous season for both teams and I look forward to a re-match next year," said Congressman Cassidy.
