Morning crash leaves woman dead and baby uninjured

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

An early morning crash in Montgomery sends a baby to the hospital and leaves one woman dead.

Montgomery Police and Fire medics responded to a single vehicle crash on I-85 North between Perry Hill Road and Eastern Boulevard Saturday at 1:30am.

Police say 33-year-old Tia Rena Twiggs died after her 2004 Chrysler Pacifica left the roadway and struck a nearby guard rail. The 3 month-old baby that was in the car was uninjured, but was transported to Baptist Medical South as a precautionary measure.

This marks Montgomery's third traffic fatality of the year.

The wreck remains under investigation.
