MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
Montgomery police say a man who was shot Friday evening has died of his wounds. Fernando Lamar Parks, 36, of Lakewood Drive died Sunday at Baptist South Hospital.
Parks was found around 8:35pm Friday at the Maxwell Inn on Airbase Boulevard. He'd been shot in the head and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say they have a suspect in custody, but haven't released any additional information.
Parks is the second homicide victim of 2012 in the capital city. Both homicides, unrelated, occurred over the weekend.
The city's first murder of the year happened early Saturday morning on Haardt Drive in west Montgomery. In that case, 46-year-old Gary Blackwell was found shot to death.
No additional information is available on Blackwell's homicide.
