LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Elkmont native Michael Boley's football journey took him from the University of Southern Mississippi to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, to the New York Giants.
Sunday, in Indianapolis, Boley and his team earned a championship ring against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.
Boley played for Elkmont High School from 1996-99. Steven Weaver, an employee at the Gin House Barbeque, went to Elkmont High and was classmate of Boley's younger brother.
"I know his brother, went to school with him. It's pretty cool that someone who won a Super Bowl ring in the NFL graduated from my high school," Weaver said.
"I think it's pretty awesome that someone from the small town of Elkmont can not only make it to the pros. But make it to the Super Bowl, and win the super bowl and get the ring," said Jessica Davis, Elkmont High alum.
She said Boley's rise to the top of the football mountain sets a good example for anyone who wants to be the best.
"It shows that no matter where you're from, big or small, that you can make it if you continue to work for your dreams and do what you have to do to make it big," she said.
