MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
The prime suspect in Montgomery's Christmas Day 2011 homicide case is back in the state of Alabama, according to authorities.
The Montgomery Police Department secured a capital murder warrant against Devin Williamson on December 26, 2011 for the death of Jervarin Mushat. Mushat, 25, was struck in the head by a bullet as he was standing in his yard on Lorchmont Drive in west Montgomery.
Soon after filing the warrant, Montgomery authorities learned that Williams was being held on drug charges in Fulton County, Georgia.
Georgia authorities to turn over the suspect Thursday during an extradition process. He's currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
Williams is charged with shooting Mushat in the head as Christmas drew to a close. Mushat's mother said he was attempting to shield his two small children from bullets when he was struck.
Mushat was Montgomery's 31st homicide victim of 2011.
