WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) -

Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin just confirmed that the automobile belonging to a woman who was murdered early Wednesday morning was located a short time ago.

The 2006 white Honda Civic belonging to 20-year-old Ana Cardwell was the only item missing when the woman's mother found her body at their family home off Hickory Drive.

Authorities have been actively searching for the car, and the person or persons responsible for Cardwell's murder.

Around 5:00pm, WSFA 12 News' Facebook fans began alerting us to a major police presence at the Wetumpka Winn-Dixie. Initial reports by investigators refuted that the car had been located, but that report changed a few moments ago.

Sheriff Bill Franklin confirmed the automobile was found in the parking lot. Authorities say the vehicle is being transported to Montgomery to be processed for evidence.

No suspects were apprehended in the discovery. The investigation is ongoing.
