MACON CO., AL (WSFA) -

In what can only be described as a homicide investigation in reverse, the Macon County Sheriff's Department says suspects in a death investigation were stopped before the death was even discovered.

Sheriff David Warren credits good policing and strong teamwork for putting all the pieces together. The call came from Montgomery police just a few minutes after midnight Wednesday.

Warren says Montgomery Police reported to Shorter Police and the Sheriff's office that they'd pulled over a speeding car with two men inside. There was blood on the interior.

Investigators ran the registration on the car and went to 60-year-old Morris Dixon's home in the Tysonville Community off County Road 97, an area between Waugh and Shorter. After arriving on the scene, investigators found the man dead.

The official cause of Mr. Dixon's death is not yet known, but Sheriff Warren said there was trauma to his body.

The two men pulled over in Montgomery were detained while Macon County detectives investigated the scene at Mr. Dixon's mobile home. They've since been transported to the Macon County Jail where they're charged with capital murder.

The suspect are now identified as Darryl Luke Rowell and Salathia Rodriguez Wilson, both 21. No bond is yet set. The men are expected to have their first court appearance Thursday.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation, the Macon County Sheriff's office and local police are working the case.
