Victim in Nov. Tuberville car crash dies

LUBBOCK, TX (WSFA) -

A Lubbock, Texas man has died four months after being involved in an automobile crash with the wife of former Auburn University head football coach and current Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville.

Ira Purdy, 87, died Friday. An investigation is underway to determine whether or not Purdy's death was the result of injuries he sustained the November 2011 crash. 

Purdy and his wife were traveling in their Mercury Milan sedan when it collided with Suzanne Tuberville's Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.

The drivers side of Tuberville's SUV slammed into the drivers side door of the sedan. The cause of the accident is not currently known.

Mrs. Tuberville was not hurt in the accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
