On the final weekend of the regular season, the University of Alabama men's basketball team (20-10, 9-7 SEC) fell at Mississippi (18-12, 8-8 SEC) by a score of 60-51, Saturday afternoon at Tad Smith Coliseum.

Senior JaMychal Green recorded his 26th career double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Trevor Releford led the Crimson Tide with a dozen points, while junior Andrew Steele added nine.

In a physical, grind-it-out first half, Mississippi took a 28-17 lead into the break after going on a 15-2 run over the last seven minutes of the half. Alabama struggled from the floor in the first half, shooting just 6-27.

The Tide came alive after intermission, turning up their shooting efforts and going on a 13-4 run, highlighted by 6-8 shooting, to start the second half. Alabama cut the Rebels lead to four with 16:45 to play, but got no closer.

From there, UM's lead would balloon to 10 points with just over six minutes to play, but Alabama would continue to chip away, and with 2:25 left, was only down by five with a chance to cut the lead down to one possession, but could not convert. Mississippi then sealed the game by hitting key free throws down the stretch.

The Tide travels to New Orleans, La. next week for the SEC Tournament, which runs March 8-11 in the New Orleans Arena. The SEC Network will televise the first and second rounds on Thursday and Friday, while ABC will televise the last two rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
