CHARDON, OH (WOIO) -

Friends celebrated the birthday of Chardon shooting victim Demetrius Hewlin at his home Thursday evening.

About 50 of Hewlin's classmates met at  Chardon Square before walking to his home to sing ‘Happy Birthday' to his mother. Demetrius, who was laid to rest Tuesday, would have turned 17 Thursday.

He was shot and killed February 27, 2012 in the shooting at Chardon High School.

Four other teens - Demetrius' classmates - were shot during the same incident. Two of them, Daniel Vincent Parmertor and Russell D. King Jr., died as well.
