Wreck on Highway 331 turns fatal


A three-vehicle wreck on U.S. 331 claimed the life of one Montgomery woman and injured several others shortly after 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

According to Alabama State Troopers, the crash occurred at 6:17 p.m. on U.S. 331 at the 82 mile marker, 10 miles south of Montgomery. A Montgomery woman, 20-year-old Jessica Lee White, was killed when the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt she was riding in collided with a 1999 Ford F-250 driven by Larry Smith of Andalusia. After the collision with the truck the Cobalt was then struck by a 2010 Volvo tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Cobalt, 21-year-old Davin Jefferson Carden of Tallassee, and passengers Devin Clifton, Michael Glaze and Rachael Bush were injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South for treatment. The driver of the pickup also was transported to Baptist South for treatment.

Troopers are still investigating the causes of this accident. No additional information is available at this time.
