Prattville cocaine dealer gets 15 years

A Prattville man will spend the next 15 years in federal prison following a conviction for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Antwoin Harbison, a.k.a. "Gump", was sentenced Thursday.

Harbison was found guilty in December of conspiring to maintain a residence to use and distribute crack cocaine, conspiring to distribute crack cocaine, and possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

U.S. Attorney George Beck Jr.'s office said Harbison was given a long sentence because of the amount of drugs involved, because he was the leader of the drug conspiracy, and because he was involved in the sexual assault of a female at the crack house after providing her with crack cocaine.

"Illegal drugs often go hand in hand with violent crimes," stated U.S. Attorney Beck.  "Drugs are often involved in robberies, burglaries, shootings, and murders. We hope this long sentence sends a message to all violent drug dealers that their actions will not be tolerated."
