Friends of Katelyn Markham hold event for her Saturday

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) -

The death of 15-year-old Chelsea Johnson is bringing attention to the Katelyn Markham search.

On Monday, Johnson's mother reported her high school freshmen daughter missing, hours later her body was found, stabbed to death.

Markham has been missing since August 14, 2011.

On the sixth month anniversary of her disappearance friends and family held another search, continued to pray, and still today have hope the 22-year-old is alive.

This weekend a free event will be held at Harbin Park's Overlook Shelter in Fairfield.

Flower seeds will be given out to attendees to take home and plant.

Organizers are also encouraged to bring short poems and quotes to read aloud.

Local artist Dizzy Citizen also perform at the event. There will also be complimentary refreshments.

The event starts at 4:00 p.m.

Katelyn Markham disappeared from her Fairfield, Ohio home on Aug. 14, 2011.  Her car, keys, and purse and her dog were all found in her home; only she and her cell phone are missing.

Those attending can RSVP at http://www.facebook.com/events/322067587847159/

The "Hope For Katelyn" event will be held rain or shine.
