    The horrific tornadoes that ripped through Oklahoma this week bring back all too familiar memories for Alabamians as memories of April 27, 2011 are still fresh in many minds. When Alabamians were in need

    In my editorial on Tuesday I chided our legislators for being the last state to pass a no-brainer  bill legalizing home brewing.  Today I want to challenge them to be one of the first states to pass another no-brainer;

    Kudos, or perhaps, cheers to the Alabama Legislature for passing HB9, the home brewing bill. Legalized home brewing may not be up there with education reform or prison funding, but it was overdue.

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

For the next sixty seconds I want you to give yourself permission to push pause on whatever you are doing and listen and reflect for a moment.  I did this recently after reading an article titled "Top five regrets of the dying."

These regrets were chronicled by an Australian nurse who spent years counseling the dying in their last days and not surprisingly common themes surfaced time and again.

Here are the top five regrets as witnessed by this nurse:

  1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
  2. I wish I hadn't worked so hard.
  3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.
  4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
  5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

I hope before you take your life back off "pause" you will use this commentary and this non-scientific sampling from one woman to think about your life. What are your greatest regrets so far and what can you decide to do today that will allow you to achieve those things you most long for?

Ok … it's now time to push the "go" button and get back to living and here's to a worthwhile pursuit of a life fulfilled and a passing with no regrets.
