PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -
The mother of a Fort Benning solider who was killed in a hit in run on Highway 280 in Lee County is asking anyone with information to come forward.
Pamela Simmons never thought the first visit to her son's home in Phenix City would be her last. She came down from Grand Rapids Michigan with family to pack up her 32 year-old son, John Simmons' belongings.
His mother says their family is still having a hard time coping with the loss of a man who they all knew and loved as Louie.
"He was just so loving everybody that met him loved him so much and he was outgoing just loved his family," Pamela Simmons said.
The father of four children lost his life on Highway 280 in March on his way home from Auburn with friends. He was hit by an SUV. The driver never stopped leaving John Simmons dead.
Still Alabama State Troopers and the Lee County Sheriff office are searching for the persons responsible for the death of John Simmons. His mother Pamela says she is praying that someone will come forward and asks that anyone who has information call the Alabama State Troopers.
"Time will go on and I just don't want, I just don't want anyone to forget him," Simmons said.
Anyone with information should call the Alabama State Troopers office at 334-745-4651.
