ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) -

A Rock Hill man is facing charges after police say he beat his girlfriend's son over an unflushed toilet.

Rock Hill police officers were called to Rebound Alternative School back in March to the report of an injured teen. Officers spoke with a counselor at the school who said the 13-year-old boy showed up at school with bruises and marks on his body.

The teen told officers that his mother's boyfriend, 34-year-old Deshawn Williams had beaten him the night before after getting home from work.

According to the police report, Williams came home after midnight on March 22 and "became upset when he discovered that someone did not flush the toilet."

Williams confront the teen's younger brother, according to police, and then came after him. The 13-year-old told officers that Williams "became angry and began striking him on the leg with a drum stick" before grabbing him on the right side of his chest near the collar bone and leaving finger marks.

Williams then beat the teen with a belt across his stomach, according to the report, leaving a large red mark that was four-inches wide and nine-inches long.

The teen told officers that Williams also hit him in the face, leaving his upper lip purple and swollen.

When officers met with the teen's mother, she said she was at work at the time of the incident and didn't know anything had occurred. She took her children and left the home while the incident was being investigated by police.

Williams was charged with cruelty to children.
