PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM/WSFA) -
As many as 20 students could face criminal charges after a senior prank at a school in Phenix City, according to Raycom News Network partner WTVM.
The Phenix City Police Department says the unidentified students at Glenwood School broke into the private school over the weekend and ransacked the facility.
Officials found mice and catfish bait in desk drawers, desks and supplies were thrown into the hallway. Books sat on the floor where they'd been thrown. There was sand thrown on the floors of the hallways.
Authorities also found an unknown substance, initially believed to be feces, on some air conditioning units.
Alford Harden, the incoming Chairman of the Board of the Glenwood School, says all students have been disciplined by the school, though he did not address the specific punishments. He said no human feces was included in the prank.
The cost of the damage is not immediately known.
The Columbus-Ledger Enquirer cited a parent at a meeting that took place Monday evening as saying there would be no charges filed. Police say it will be up to the school to determine whether they want to pursue burglary and criminal charges.
