MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
On Saturday, May 19th at 1:45pm police and fire medics responded to the 700 block of Clark Street in reference to a hit and run accident. Police located a 3-year-old male who sustained life threatening injures after being struck by a vehicle.
The child was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Officials say the incident started from an argument.
The driver of an SUV attempted to leave the scene and struck the victim while backing out of the driveway. The driver fled the scene but later turned himself in to the police.
The case is still under investigation and this marks the City of Montgomery's 10th Traffic Fatality of 2012.
