TROY, AL (WSFA) -

The Director of the Institutional Advancement of Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, Lynn Hanner, confirmed that a student died following the 100 meter track and field event at the Special Olympics Saturday.

Emergency medical staff were unable to revive 20-year-old Aaron Boyd after he suddenly felt ill and started having seizures. Boyd was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Boyd was a student at the Helen Keller School which is a part of the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind.

Students have returned to campus and counselors are available for grief counseling. Memorial plans are underway for Boyd.
