Alabama's annual Click It or Ticket campaign begins today and motorists will notice a greater police presence on the roads. State Troopers and local law enforcement agencies will be on the lookout for drivers and passengers who are not buckled up properly.
While the Click It or Ticket campaign runs from May 21st until June 3rd this year, motorists should be aware that officers enforce seat belt laws all year long.
According to Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Steve Jarrett, the seat belt law is a zero tolerance law, so drivers will not get a warning. "If you don't click it, you are going to get a ticket."
Nearly 70% of Alabamians killed in traffic accidents weren't wearing a seat belt.
