LAKE MARTIN, AL (WSFA) -
You see all kinds of boats ripping through the water at Lake Martin, but there's one little vessel that looks out of this world. "Best we can figure it's a British circraft," said owner David McDaniel. "Since it looks like a spaceship we painted it like Marvin the Martian.
This little flying saucer on the water has quite a story. A neighbor gave it to his family almost 40 years ago. "The first few years my dad would just pull us behind the boat like a tube. Then we sank it. It sat in the woods for 20 years and then we fixed it up."
Then came the real fun, learning how to ride it. It has no steering wheel and two underwater skis in the back. "It's pretty similar to a Sea Doo, but there's no steering wheel so you have to lean to the right or left. They were designed for racing."
While Mr. McDaniel glided across the lake effortlessly, I almost sand two boats at once. Check out the video and see for yourself.
