South Alabama Coach and Son Die in Wreck

The Ozark community is in mourning over the loss of a football coach and his son. Carroll High School football coach Stacey Watters and his 10-year-old son died in a car wreck in Orlando, Florida this morning. Another son is in the hospital. A Florida television reports that the family was returning Alabama from a cruise.

Alabama lawmakers approved a plan to redraw legislative district lines, but it didn't happen without some controversy. Some Democrats claim Republicans used strong-arm tactics to gavel the plan to final passage. The plan now goes to Governor Bentley and to the U.S. Justice Department for approval.

Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange is praising an amendment to a state ethics law. It's now legal for elected officials, government employees and teachers to receive Biscuits Baseball tickets as gifts. Mayor Strange calls it exciting news for Montgomery. He says it will help get fans in the stands.
